Waterworks Museum on Table Mountain

Museum housing memorabilia and equipment used in the construction of the Table Mountain dams and surrounding buildings.

The museum is maintained by the City of Cape Town's Water and Sanitation Department. It houses memorabilia and equipment used in the construction of the dams and surrounding buildings.

Of particular interest is the steam winch and locomotive used to transport the heavy building equipment across from the cable car head at Kasteelspoort in the west. Hydroclimatological measuring equipment, flow gauges, barometers and written documents are a testimony to the detail and planning undertaken in the construction process.
