Im Amtshaus Ostrach können Sie gleich zwei Museen besuchen: das Volkskundemuseum und das Heimatmuseum.

Das Volkskundemuseum beheimatet im ehemaligen Salemer Amtshaus auf den ersten beiden Stockwerken vielerlei Exponate aus dem bäuerlichen Leben. Schwerpunkt ist die "Volkskunde des 19. Jhd.". Zusätzlich werden regelmäßig Sonderausstellungen gezeigt.

Nach einer Vielzahl von Kleinexponaten zur volkskundlichen Sachkultur, die das handwerkliche Können und den Kunstsinn ihrer Produzenten überliefern, werden eine "Leidringer" Schlafkammer, eine Spinnstube und eine Wohnkücheneinrichtung gezeigt.

Weitere Sammlungsschwerpunkte sind bäuerliche Schränke und Stühle, Musikinstrumente und religiöse Volkskunst.

Das Museum ist jeden 1. Sonntag im Monat (außer August) geöffnet.
