The museum, which reopened in 2015 after extensive renovation, offers its visitors exciting insights into the history and life of the people of Göllheim across two floors and approximately 300 m² of exhibition space.
The museum in the Uhl'sche Haus houses two collections that could hardly be more different.
The local history department traces the history of Göllheim from the Stone Age to the famous knight battle on the Hasenbühl in 1298. Precious archaeological finds bear witness to the long history of settlement in Göllheim.
Göllheim came to the center of German history with the king's battle on the Hasenbühl. Pictures, books, documents, and a large-format diorama bring the dramatic events to life.
The second focus of the museum is the puppet collection of Karin Heinz. From the delicately crafted porcelain ladies with luxurious clothing and delicate rouge on their snow-white cheeks to the plastic doll that blinks with its eyelids – there is something for every taste in puppetry.
It becomes clear that dolls have always been much more than just toys for small and even big children. The numerous pieces in the collection showcase the development of dolls over the last 100 years and also provide insights into the production and internal workings of a doll.
