The Majolica Porcelain Manufactory Museum, a sister museum of the Baden state museum situated in the former administrative building of the Maiolica workshops, provides an excellent overview of the production of the grand-ducal manufactory, which is now run by the state. The exhibitions span from its inception to the present.
The Majolica Porcelain Manufactory Museum is a unique German porcelain workshop that survived the crises of the last century and is still in operation. It was founded in 1901 thanks to the energy of artists Hans Thoma and Wilhelm Süs.
Visitors are guided through the transformations of the 19th and 20th centuries with the help of countless exhibitions, which range from art nouveau to expressionism, Nazi art, the trends of the 1950s and 1960s and the direction of contemporary art movements. In addition to ceramics, the museum contains different staged scenes to reflect the variety of items produced by the workshops, such as a room depicting the Berlin Admiralspalast.
