Im Mittelpunkt des Museums steht die Geschichte der Steinhauer in Schmie.

Mit zahlreichen Exponaten, Bildern und Texten wird das Steinhauerhandwerk vor allem von der Zeit ab der Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts bis zum Ersten Weltkrieg anschaulich dargestellt.Weitere Themen des Museums sind altes Handwerk, Landwirtschaft, Feuerwehr, örtliches Vereinsleben und die Eppinger Linien, ein ab 1695 angelegter Verteidigungswall, der im Wald bei Schmie besonders gut erhalten ist.

Führungen für Gruppen und Schulklassen sind nach Vereinbarung möglich.
