Tourist-Info Laufenburg (Baden)
On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the museum association, Dr Hans-Joachim Köhler reports on the development of our museum.
When the milliner Sophie Rüscher bequeathed her house and its contents of antique furniture and townscapes to the town of Laufenburg/CH "for a museum" in her will in 1978, a museum committee was formed first and then the museum association in 1978.
The "Schiff" property was soon considered suitable and purchased. In June 1981, the Schiff museum was finally opened with a three-day museum festival, and the museum association, in which members from both Laufenburg are active on a voluntary basis, still looks after the museum with its integrated guild room of the Narro-Altfischerzunft, Salmigrotte of the "Salmfänger" carnival society and two-storey exhibition rooms.
The exhibition concept includes a permanent display of historical artefacts from the town's collection as well as annual temporary exhibitions with regionally important themes.
Group tours are possible by appointment.
