The Musée de la Lavande Luberon is a unique conservatory of Provencal know-how, with a superb collection of stills, a carefully designed museography and summer events to promote the real lavender of Provence.
The Musée de la Lavande Luberon is the conservatory of true Provencal lavender, offering tours (self-guided with an audio-guide), workshops and exclusive events for all lovers of this emblematic Provencal flower. Discover the rich heritage of real lavender and the epic story of lavender growers from the 16th century to the present day. After this visit, this symbol of the Provencal landscape will finally have no more secrets for you!

The Lavender Museum or the Art of True Lavender
In May 1991, Georges Lincelé, a specialist in AOP fine lavender, opened the first Musée de la Lavande in the heart of the Luberon, in Coustellet, to preserve the Art of True Provence Lavender. Set in a prestigious location, with its large stone Provencal mansion and beautiful Mediterranean garden of lavender and olive trees, this Museum boasts a rich collection of 346 items from the world of lavender growing, distillation and perfumery. All these fabulously preserved objects make for an experience full of discoveries, the watchword of which is the protection and promotion of local heritage and know-how: lavender from Provence.

Lavender-growing know-how in Provence
This botanical icon, the pride and joy of Provence since the 19th century, is one of the rarest and most precious flowers in the world. Today, the Musée de la Lavande has become a veritable institution committed to the preservation of lavender. It invites visitors to discover the special place of fine lavender in haute parfumerie and its major role in aromatherapy. The museum's museography and the passion of its guides and staff, who work with the Lincelé family, owners of the museum and producers and distillers since 1890 on the Le Château du Bois lavender-growing estate, ensure a visit appreciated by all lovers of this emblematic flower.

A flowery, fragrant discovery for all
Young and old, young and old alike will appreciate the multitude of activities on offer to appreciate all the charms of fine lavender.
Children have a special place, with educational tools to help them learn while having fun: quizzes, digital activities and animations to help them grasp this beautiful subject in an intuitive way. Workshops, events, themed and exclusive tours are organized throughout the year to fully immerse visitors in the world of lavender. To this day, the Musée de la Lavande remains a 100% family-run business on a human scale, in order to maintain a privileged relationship with its visitors. Environmental concerns and a commitment to the preservation of true Provence lavender remain the leitmotiv of this museum of enthusiasts.

More than just a museum, with specialized areas and a producer's store
- The Museum's courtyard around the hundred-year-old olive tree is a haven of peace where you can relax and picnic, and follow the traditional distillation process around the Egrot still with explanations from the distiller,
The Atelier, with its old-fashioned schoolroom feel, is bathed in light in the lavender field. This is a space dedicated to events such as the sensory workshop and lavender sachet making (program available on the website).
The Museum's boutique, Le Château du Bois Provence, is a wonderful sensory invitation to appreciate genuine fine lavender, with a rich range of organic and vegan skincare cosmetics for face and body, designer perfumes and pure plant-based soaps, as well as herbal teas, honey and dried lavender bouquets. Everything comes from the lavender-growing Domaine Le Château du Bois, owned by the Lincelé family. For 5 generations, they have been producers and distillers of fine lavender in Haute Provence, guaranteeing total traceability from seed to flower to lavender field to essential oil, using sustainable farming methods. The Le Château du Bois Provence® brand gives pride of place to fine lavender in every phyto-cosmetic product, in order to rediscover the medicinal virtues of true lavender from Provence, lavandula officinalis Chaix, the one and only flower to be protected by a PDO and the only lavender variety to be listed in the European pharmacopoeia. The olfactory identity of fine lavender essential oil is the hallmark of a unique collection of niche fragrances, designed by Elisabeth Proal, who sublimates the aromatic freshness and softness of lavender by combining it with beautiful natural materials. The boutique is elegantly decorated, with a presentation of the product ranges for testing textures and active plant ingredients. The guidance and advice provided by the Château du Bois team is appreciated for the quality of its explanations and the care taken in gift presentation. Depending on the season, they'll also serve lavender herbal tea, lavender iced-tea or lavender diabolo! Discover the Museum's new online boutique www.museedelalavande.com
