A földszintes házat a 17. század végén a Sándorffy család építtette. Később a költő édesapjának tulajdonába került, amikor összeházasodott Sándorffy Juliannával. A költő Szegedy Rózával kötött házassága után vette birtokba az épületet, mely élete végéig a tulajdona maradt. Mivel a házaspárnak gyermeke nem született, haláluk után a rokonság a veszprémi püspökségnek adományozta a házat. Innentől a mindenkori intéző lakott benne 1944-ig, amikor minden egyházi birtokok állami tulajdonba került. 1950-től rendezték be múzeumként, 1990-től pedig több tárlatot nyitottak benne.
Kisfaludy Sándor és felesége a helyi temetőben nyugszik.

70 éves kor felett, pedagógusoknak, sümegi lakosoknak a belépés ingyenes.

- A távolsági buszról a Sümeg, autóbusz-állomás nevű megállóban érdemes leszállni.

Directions
- A buszmegállóból északi irányba induljunk a Flórián téren a K, P és S jelzéseket követve, melyek a Kossuth Lajos utcában folytatódnak. A Szent István tér kereszteződésében forduljunk jobbra a Z jelzésen, majd az első lehetőségnél kanyarodjunk balra a Kisfaludy Sándor térre! A bal oldalon a parkoló utáni első épület a múzeum.
Parking
- Sümegen a 84-es útról forduljunk nyugatra a Petőfi Sándor utcára, arról térjünk jobbra a Kossuth Lajos utcára! A második keresztutcán kanyarodjunk jobbra a Szent István térre, majd rögtön balra a Kisfaludy utcába!
- Az utca elején a múzeum előtt ingyenes parkolóban hagyhatjuk az autónkat.
