The Ethnographic Museum of Pazardzhik is housed in the largest residential building from the Bulgarian National Revival period in the city. Built in 1850 for the wealthy merchant Nikola Hristovich, it is an outstanding example of Plovdiv Revival Baroque architecture. Today, the museum presents the traditional culture, crafts, and everyday life of the Pazardzhik region.
The Ethnographic Museum occupies the former residence of Nikola Hristovich, one of Pazardzhik's most prominent nineteenth-century merchants. Constructed in 1850 during the Bulgarian National Revival, the house reflects the prosperity of the town at a time when trade and craftsmanship were flourishing throughout the Ottoman Empire. Its architectural design follows the distinctive Plovdiv Revival Baroque style, characterised by elegant proportions, richly decorated interiors, projecting upper floors, and finely crafted woodwork.

The building is regarded as one of the finest examples of Revival-period domestic architecture in southern Bulgaria and has been declared a national architectural, artistic, and cultural monument. As the ethnographic department of the Regional Historical Museum, it houses exhibitions dedicated to the traditional lifestyle of the Pazardzhik region. Visitors can explore displays of folk costumes, household furnishings, textiles, crafts, tools, and objects associated with local customs and celebrations. The museum offers valuable insight into the social and cultural life of the region during the eighteenth, nineteenth, and early twentieth centuries while preserving one of Pazardzhik's most important historic buildings.

Public transport

Pazardzhik is well connected by regular train and bus services from Sofia, Plovdiv, and other major Bulgarian cities. The museum is located in the town centre and can easily be reached on foot from the railway station or central bus station. Local taxis are also readily available.

The museum is situated on ul. "Otets Paisiy" in the historic centre of Pazardzhik. From the central pedestrian area and the main town square, it can be reached within a few minutes on foot. Its distinctive Revival-era architecture makes it easy to identify among the surrounding buildings.
