The German-Cimber toponym Koaferpickel - Kofelpickl identifies the rocky relief on which the Community of Folgaria built the Casón, known in historical documents as the "Saltari hut". Its function was closely linked to the figure of Saltèr, the country guard who watched over the vineyards of Mezzomonte, preventing thefts of timber, poles and grapes, as well as ensuring compliance with the rules of the harvest. Inside the Casón the Saltèr found shelter, with a bed, a lantern and a fire to warm up during the nights of surveillance.
The building, first mentioned in 1490, spanned centuries of community history until the 1950s, when Arturo Carpentari was the last municipal Saltèr. Restored by the Municipality of Folgaria in 2019, today El Casón houses a small but evocative exhibition area on two levels, which tells the tradition of the peasant guards and the rural life of the Alpe Cimbra.
