Il passato vive
Casa Tomé racchiude in sé oltre 650 anni di storia locale. Questa modesta casa in sasso, a due piani, con stalla e fienile annessi, è rimasta praticamente inalterata nel corso dei secoli. Da metà Settecento circa, non ha più subito trasformazioni sostanziali: qualche minima modifica, ma nessun intervento di ammodernamento, tanto che mai sono stati installati il riscaldamento e i servizi igienici. Soltanto l’acqua fredda e il fornello elettrico in cucina e la luce nelle stüe e in stalla.
La casa ha sempre rispecchiato le modeste esigenze e possibilità delle famiglie che vi hanno vissuto, comprese quelle degli ultimi proprietari, la famiglia Tomé. Le sorelle Luigia e Marina ci hanno abitato fino al 1990. Nel 2002 è stata acquistata dalla Fondazione Ente Museo Poschiavino.
Nel 2007 è stata aperta al pubblico quale seconda sede museale, accanto al Palazzo de Bassus-Mengotti. I due volti della società poschiavina: da un lato la realtà rurale che ha caratterizzato la vita in valle fin verso gli ultimi decenni dell’Ottocento e dall’altro il destino di poche famiglie benestanti che hanno contribuito a plasmare le sorti della vita politica, sociale e culturale della Valposchiavo.
