Die Pestkreuze zu Emmingen ab Egg wurden erstmals im Dreißigjährigen Krieg, um 1630, an den vier Ortsausgängen Richtung Engen, Hattingen, Tuttlingen und Liptingen aufgestellt als Abwehrsegen gegen die Pestseuche und vielleicht auch als Pestwarnung für die Wanderer.
