Pamätná tabuľa na Memorandovom námestíPhoto: Aneta Štancľová, Turiec
Dokumentu, ktorý bol výsledkom významného zhromaždenia konajúceho sa na tomto mieste 6. a 7. júna 1861. Stretlo sa tu vtedy takmer 6-tisíc ľudí, zástupcovia z celého Slovenska, občania Martina i okolia. Obsahoval základné štátoprávne, politické a kultúrne požiadavky Slovákov v rámci Uhorska. Autorom memoranda bol Štefan Marko Daxner.
Delegácia zástupcov ich v júli predložila uhorskému snemu, ktorý ich však už nestihol prerokovať, lebo ho panovník rozpustil. V decembri 1861 preto deputácia pod vedením Štefana Moysesa predložila Memorandum cisárovi Františkovi Jozefovi I.. Viedeň Slovákom splnila len niektoré požiadavky.
Dnes je jeho pripomienkou bronzový Memorandový reliéf od akademického sochára Jána Koniarka na budove evanjelickej fary. Znázorňuje odovzdávanie memoranda panovníkovi vo Viedni. Zhromaždenie si pamätajú aj lipy so štatútom chránených stromov šumiace v strede námestia.
