Le monument de la Cracousserie rend hommage au courage de jeunes maquisards (ils avaient de 17 à 22 ans) face à la barbarie humaine.

Le 15 juillet 1944, Jean Langlois, Joseph Denis, Yvon Denis son frère, Armand Charles Le Bars et Albert Payen ont été pris en chasse puis en embuscade sur dénonciation alors qu’ils regagnaient le maquis de Pommerit-Le-Vicomte. Alors que les 5 jeunes gens se battaient contre cent Allemands, ils ont tenu avec honneur et courage leur engagement pour la France jusqu’à leur dernier souffle rendu à la Cracousserie.
