Erratischer Block, Quarzit, während der Rißeiszeit (3. Vergletscherung) vor ungefähr 200 000 Jahren aus dem Glarner- oder St. .Galler Oberland durch den Linthgletscher bis zum Südranden transportiert.

Der als "Grauer Stein" benannte Block ist 1330 urkundlich erwähnt als Grenzstein der Gemarkung Neunkirch. Er liegt beim Grenzstein 67 zwischen dem Kanton Schaffhausen und Deutschland.
