Der Diebsturm, im 15. Jahrhundert erbaut, wurde als Waffenlager und Gefängnis genutzt. Als Teil der städtischen Verteidigungsanlage sicherte er die Bürger vor Angriffen und grenzte die freie Reichsstadt gegenüber den umliegenden Gebieten unter Lehnsherrschaft ab.
