Der Bildhauer Ewald Mataré schuf dieses Denkmal zum Gedenken an die gefallenen Klever Soldaten.

Der Bildhauer Ewald Mataré – der Joseph Beuys 1951 zu seinem Meisterschüler ernannte – schuf dieses Denkmal zum Gedenken an die gefallenen Klever Soldaten. Es wurde von den Nationalsozialisten als entartete Kunst zerstört und vergraben. Erst 1977 fand man Teile der Figur durch Zufall wieder und restaurierte sie.
