The tower was severely damaged and ultimately collapsed during the 1928 Chirpan earthquake, leaving only its stone base intact. The bell was preserved, but much of the original structure was lost. In 2008, a reconstruction project led by the Rotary Club of Pazardzhik restored the tower based on historical photographs and artistic depictions. Completed in 2010, the rebuilt tower rises approximately 27 metres, although the original surviving element is limited to the lower stone base. Today, the structure includes modern clock mechanisms and serves both as a historical reconstruction and a symbolic monument to the city’s heritage.
