In der breiten Palette dessen, was in diesem Werk vorgestellt wird, kom mt diesem Bildstock auf Grund des Alters und der Bauart besondere Bedeutung zu.
Der Zeitpunkt der Errichtung dürfte zurückgehen in die Zeit um etwa 1750, womit er zu den Ältesten Saalfeldens zählt.
Hinter dem einfachen, aber trotzdem lieblichen Schmiede ei sengitter verbirgt sich ein in Holz geschnitzter und gefasster „Jesus an der Geiselsäule" von höchster Qualität.
Ein ebenso einfaches Eisen kreuz am Giebel des mit Schindeln gedeckten Daches ist ein weiterer Schmuck.
Im Rahmen des Straßenbaues wurde der B ildstock 1974 auf seinen jetzigen Standort ver setzt.
