The Monastery of Kera on a natural balcony at the SE edge of Thirasia is an important religious and archaeological site of Thirasia and offers panoramic views along with a beautiful place for the hikers to rest.
The Monastery of the Dormition of the Virgin is located on the south side of Thirasia, on the Trypiti cape. It was built in 1851 and its Russian wooden temple is impressive. In the area around the monastery there is a prehistoric settlement where masonry, ceramics, stone tools, etc. are preserved. From the Monastery one can see the islands of Santorini and Kameni.
