Aurora Heritage Mine

The mine is the only accessible silver mine along the Silver Road between Freiberg and Dresden and is located in the Wild Weisseritz Valley near Dorfhain. It is a small mine whose exploration dates back to the early 16th century. Since April 1998, the Aurora Erbstolln has been operated as a small visitor mine. As the highlight of a four-kilometer-long mining nature trail, the mine invites visitors to an exciting underground adventure. Equipped with a protective cape, helmet, and lamp, visitors learn how mining was once carried out during an exciting 35-minute guided tour through the rocky landscape. Children as young as 6 years old can join this journey of discovery.

Among other things, the mine features original mining tools dating from 1580 to the present, as well as crosscuts and main drifts where silver-bearing lead and copper ore, as well as barite and fluorite, were mined. In addition, rotating special exhibitions are held here. See photos here .

10:00–14:00

• April through October, every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
• Groups of more than 8 people should register in advance.
• Special tours are available by prior arrangement. (8 to 10 people)
• Please note that children must be at least 6 years old to participate in the tour.
