An der Gehweiler Mühle wird die Wiege der Siedlungsgeschichte des Tales vermutet. Hügelgräber aus der Zeit um 400 v. Chr. und Brandgräber aus der Römerzeit (50 v. bis 350 n. Chr.) gegenüber dem Mühleneingang zeugen von einer durchgehenden Besiedlung.

Die Wiege der Besiedlung des Tales liegt tatsächlich i der Nähe des Mühleneingangs (50m). Aber die genannten Gräber wurden 300 m - 500m oberhalb der Mühle Nähe Schmugglerpfad gefunden, bzw. aufgedeckt. Beste Grüße Rüdiger Andres, Wanderwart der Gemeinde Namborn
