Die älteste Mühle des Emslands

Die Mühle an der Wiek ist eine Zierde fürs Stadtbild und sie ist in mehr als einer Hinsicht einmalig: 1709 errichtet ist sie die älteste Mühle des Emslands. Sie ist zudem die letzte funktionsfähige Bockwindmühle der Region: Die komplette Mühle lässt sich auf dem Fundament, dem „Bock“, so drehen, dass die Flügel optimal zum Wind stehen. Und schließlich drehen sich ihre Flügel nicht – wie ansonsten allgemein üblich – gegen sondern mit dem Uhrzeigersinn.

Bei günstigem Wetter lässt sich die Bockwindmühle regelmäßig in Aktion erleben.

Außenbesichtigung jederzeit möglich. Innenbesichtigung nach Vereinbarung.
