After the death of the last owner Rudolf Schmidt, the property was recently sold and is undergoing extensive renovation.
This mill was also called Germermühle or Schmidtmühle after its later owners. It is the youngest of the mills in Trohe. Johann Philipp Neeb from an old miller family built it in 1727. For this he needed the permission of the landgrave, which he received. But the miller lacked work, because the farmers of the surrounding villages were obliged to have their grain ground at a certain mill. This was called Bannzwang or Banngerechtigkeit. Work and payment difficulties accompanied life in the Belzer mill for a long time. Frequent changes of ownership, accumulating debts and auctions are recorded. Around 1840, Johannes Volk from Großen-Buseck, who was familiar with the miller's trade, took over the Belzer Mill, which he later handed over to his son-in-law Christoph Schmidt from Rödgen. His son Heinrich is remembered by the people of Trohe as a miller and mayor for many years.
A well-known potato schnapps was also distilled here until before the 2nd World War.
Heinrich's son Wilhelm Philipp took over the mill and ran it until around 1950, devoting himself to agriculture. His son Rudolf Schmidt did not learn the miller's trade anymore. He worked the farm belonging to the mill until 1994.
The old mill building was demolished in 1956 and a residential house was built in its place.
