Worms, eine der ältesten Städte Deutschlands, war Schauplatz der sagenhaften Nibelungen. Vor dem Westportal des 1200 erbauten Domes hatten sich einst Kriemhild und Brunhild gestritten, und 1521 weigerte sich hier Luther, seine Schriften zu widerrufen.
