Das Dorf Codera steht auf 825 m am Anfang des Tals und ist der einzige ganzjährig bewohnte Ort Italiens ohne Zufahrtsmöglichkeit. Im Talverlauf folgen drei weitere kleine Sommersiedlungen.

Die Bewohner Coderas haben sich bewusst gegen eine Zufahrtsstraße entschieden. Ihre einzige Verbindung zur Außenwelt ist eine kleine Materialseilbahn. Mit ihr gelangt das meiste, was man nicht auf dem Buckel hinauftragen kann, ins Tal.

Codera – ein Ort mit Geschichte

Dicht beeinander stehen die alten Steinhäuser in Codera - in den engen Gassen scheint die Zeit stehen geblieben zu sein.

Ausgrabungen bestätigen, dass das Val Codera bereits in der Bronzezeit, also vor mindestens drei- bis viertausend Jahren, von Menschen bewohnt war. Die beinahe unzugängliche Lage der Siedlungen in einem engen Seitental brachte einerseits zwar Mühen und Gefahren mit sich, schützte die Bewohner andererseits jedoch vor Angriffen und Beutezügen feindlicher Heere. Im Jahr 1933 zählte der Ort noch ca. 500 Einwohner. Ab den 1950er Jahren setzte auch hier eine Abwanderungswelle ein. Heute leben weniger als zehn Menschen ganzjährig im Ort, während in den einstigen Dörfern La Cola und San Giorgio kein einziger mehr ansässig ist. Dennoch werden Saumpfade, Häuser und Wälder weiterhin wie in der Vergangenheit gewartet. Fast alle ehemaligen Einwohner kehren, wenn es ihnen möglich ist, am Wochenende aus dem Tal zu ihren früheren Häusern in Codera zurück.

Nichts ist für die Ewigkeit - auch an den soliden Steinhäusern von Codera nagt der Zahn der Zeit.

Die hellen Wohnhäuser, deren solide Gestalt vom San-Fedelino-Granit herrührt, drängen sich dicht am Hang aneinander und zeugen von einer belebten Vergangenheit. In den engen Gässchen glaubt man sich in eine andere Welt versetzt. Keine Straßen und kein Motorenlärm – eine ruhige, friedliche Stimmung liegt über dem Dorf und man fühlt sich bei den freundlichen Bewohnern willkommen. Wer in Codera einkehren oder übernachten will, kann beim Rifugio “La Locanda” oder in der “Osteria Alpina” vorbeischauen.
