Der Schluchsee ist nicht nur der größte See im Schwarzwald, sonderm mit seiner Höhenlage von 930 Metern über NN die höchstgelegene Talsperre Deutschlands. Die erhöhte Lage bedingt, dass das Wasser auch im Sommer relativ kühl ist.
