A paradise for everyone.
In the middle of the Eifel National Park, nestled in a unique landscape and surrounded by pristine nature, the Rursee and Obersee lie as an ideal destination for unforgettable leisure experiences.
A round tour by bike leads around the lake for about 27 kilometers – always with a view of the water and through a varied, partly nearly untouched landscape. Those who want to discover even more can extend the route to about 42 kilometers and include Obersee and Urftsee. Traveling comfortably is best done with a Pedelec, which can be rented on-site; a prior phone reservation is recommended.
The lake landscape can also be excellently explored on foot. The classic is a hike along the shore. More challenging routes lead over the forested heights, where fascinating views of the water open up between the treetops, creating impressive panoramas over the lake landscape. If you want to shorten your tour, you can board the passenger ships of the Rursee Shipping at one of the docks, cross to the next station, and then end the day in one of the restaurants or cafés.
The lakeside towns of Rurberg, Woffelsbach, Einruhr, Eschauel, and Schwammenauel invite you to relax with numerous options for a leisurely break. Where there is so much water, the pleasure of swimming naturally plays a big role: especially on hot summer days, the Eiserbachsee in Rurberg, the cove in Woffelsbach, the natural pool in Einruhr, and the beach club in Eschauel – the latter even with its own dog beach – are inviting.
Active individuals also get their money's worth: in Woffelsbach, Rurberg, and Eschauel, canoes, kayaks, and SUP boards are available for rent. Those who prefer a more leisurely pace can also rent a small electric boat in Schwammenauel – completely without a boating license. All boat rentals can be found here
For all questions regarding excursions and vacations, hiking tips, or schedules for the shipping, the Tourist Information at Rursee is ready to assist. In the attached shop, you can find many beautiful, practical, delicious, and informative products as well as atmospheric Rursee souvenirs.
