Im berühmten Bergsee entsteht bei Windstille eine Reflexion des Matterhorns auf der Wasseroberfläche und bietet ideale Voraussetzungen für ein Postkartenfoto.

Der Riffelsee gehört auf die To-do-Liste jedes Zermatt Besuchers und Fotografen. Auf der Wasseroberfläche des kleinen Bergsees entsteht bei Windstille eine wunderschöne Reflexion des Matterhorns. Hier ist schon manches Hintergrundbild entstanden. Insbesondere bei Dämmerung entstehen die schönsten Fotos: Frühmorgens oder gegen Abend lässt der Wind nach und die Spiegelung wird klarer. An windigen Tagen erzeugt eine Langzeitbelichtung mithilfe eines Stativs und ND-Filters jedoch auch eine glatte Oberfläche des Riffelsees. Also vergiss deine Ausrüstung nicht, wenn du mit einem Postkartenbild wieder nach Hause gehen möchtest.

Von Anfang Juli bis Ende Oktober ist der Riffelsee nicht von Schnee bedeckt. Bitte beachte für den Besuch des Riffelsees den Fahrplan der Gornergrat Bahn.

Public transport

Mit der Gornergrat Bahn fährst du ab Zermatt bis Rotenboden, der vorletzten Station vor dem Gornergrat. Von der Station nimmst du den Wanderweg und spazierst rund 10 Minuten hinunter zum Bergsee. Die kurze Wanderung bergab ist einfach zu meistern und braucht keine Wanderkenntnisse oder spezielle Wanderausrüstung.

Bitte bleib auf den gekennzeichneten Wanderrouten, um die Pflanzen- und Tierwelt des Naturschutzgebietes zu schützen. Nach dem Besuch des Sees kannst du entweder weiter nach Riffelberg wandern oder zur Station Rotenboden zurücksteigen.

Mit der Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn ab Visp nach Zermatt. In Zermatt mit der Gornergrat Bahn bis auf den Gornergrat. Ab der Station Riffelberg nach Zermatt.

Parking

Zermatt ist autofrei. In Täsch steht mit dem Matterhorn Terminal Täsch ein gedecktes Parkhaus zur Verfügung – unter einem Dach mit dem Bahnhof Täsch, wo du direkt auf den Zermatt Shuttle umsteigen kannst. Wir empfehlen grundsätzlich die Anreise mit den öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln via Visp.
