Der Prebersee, ein Moorsee, liegt in 1514 m Höhe am Fuße des Prebers (2740 m) im östlichen Lungau. Er wurde wegen seiner ökologischen Wertigkeit und der landschaftlichen Schönheit dem "Landschaftsschutzgebiet Niedere Tauern" zugeordnet. Ein Moorlehrpfad führt um den See herum und informeirt über diese besondere Landschaft. Der See ist Ausgangspunkt vieler Bergtouren auf den Preber und besonders auch durch das "Preberschießen", das Wasserscheibenschießen bekannt. Angeln ist - gegen Erwerb einer Fischerkarte - erlaubt.
