Wer um 1850 das Hochtal Lenzerheide aufsuchte, fand kaum mehr vor als ein paar Maiensässe. Der Heidsee hingegen scheint seit eh und je im Sonnenlicht zu glitzern.

Der Heidsee liegt eingebettet inmitten des Hochtals in idyllischer, parkähnlicher Landschaft auf 1'500 m ü. M. Am rechten Seeufer ist eine Naturschutzzone. Am linken Seeufer befindet sich das Lido mit vielen Attraktionen u.a. auch für Surfer und Segler. Die Windstärke auf dem Heidsee ist im Schnitt 3BF (Thermischer Wind). Der windgeschützte Teil des Lidos ist ein Spielparadies für Kinder. Die Eltern können vom nahegelegenen Lido-Kiosk den Überblick halten. Miete Liegestühle Boote Umkleidekabinen vorhanden. Der grosse Kiosk am Lido verkauft neben Glacés, Getränken, Kaffee, Süssigkeiten auch feine Würste zum selber Grillieren, Sandwiches, Salate usw. Bei schönem Wetter ist die Grillstelle angefeuert.
