Der Hechtsee (544 m) ist ein außerordentlich beliebtes Ausflugsziel für Wanderer, Jogger, Nordic Walker und Spaziergänger. Der idyllische See kann auf einem bequemen Wanderweg steigungsfrei umrundet werden. Am südöstlichen Ufer befinden sich eine Badestelle und ein Restaurant. Bemerkenswert ist die Ableitung des Tiefenwassers am Nordufer - hier kann ein intensiver Schwefelgeruch wahrgenommen werden. Neben der Umrundung sind Abstecher zum Längsee, Egelsee oder zur aussichtsreichen Thierbergkapelle sehr lohnend.
