Der Sage nach sollen alle Allgäuer Seen miteinander unterirdisch über das Grundmeer verbunden sein; angeblich hatte ehemals ein Musikant, der oft zwischen Immenstadt und Füssen unterwegs war, selbst nachgewiesen, dass vor allem der Alpsee bei Füssen mit dem Alpsee bei Immenstadt nachweislich verbunden sei:
Wenn er nämlich mit den Fußsohlen die Oberfläche des Füssener Alpsees berührte, konnte er die Aveglocken von Bühl bei Immenstadt hören. Wenn er dagegen auf die Oberfläche des Immenstädter Alpsees ditschte, hörte er die Kirchenglocken von St. Mang.
