‘Via Carraia’ was the only way that crossed the village from north to south and was covered by dense vegetation. The Austro- Hungarians could evade the vigilance of the Italian observers, in particular from Monte Lefre.

‘Via Carraia’ however, was not the only passage through which they could pass, because some tunnels were built inside the Monte Giglio. They connected the centre of the village with the torrent Maso, with all the various stations built around the inhabited area and especialy with Villa Buffa.
