Second city wall

This wall network closed the district built in the thirteenth century to contain the increase in population. The walls along with the two gates were probably made under the Baschi, and then the Republic Siena rebuilt them in 1407 and added three circular bastions, two of which are still visible. Of particular note is "The Tower", where the little window of the gatehouse is still visible, topped by a coat of arms.
