Der kleine Ort Salzwoog, der von jeher eine sogenante Annexe der Gemeinde Lemberg war, hat seinen Namen der historischen Salzstraße zu verdanken, die auf ihrem Weg von Lothringen an den Rhein durch seine Gemarkung führte. Auf dem damaligen Salzwooger Hof, der auf der Bistumsgrenze zwischen Metz und Speyer lag, befand sich eine Zollstation mit einer Salzwaage, um das "weiße Gold" zu wiegen. Im Ort Salzwoog gibt es noch einige schöne Fachwerkhäuser.
