Der 32 m hohe Rote Turm, ehemaliger Wehr- sowie Wachturm, ist ein Überbleibsel des Pulsnitzer Stadttores und zählt 117 Stufen.
Wie der Name verrät, führt diese Straße in die 12 km entfernte Stadt Pulsnitz. Stadttore waren im Kriegsfall besonders gefährdet. Daher versuchten die Verteidiger sie mit zusätzlichen Mauern und Türmen zu schützen. Im Ernstfall konnten auf ihm viele Schützen Stellung beziehen.
Der Turm diente gleichzeitig als städtisches Gefängnis für die höher gestellten Persönlichkeiten. Die Übeltäter der niederen Stände sperrten die Stadtbüttel im Gefängnis des Rathauses ein. Der Schlüssel für den Roten Turm ist in der Kamenz-Information erhältlich.
