Historisches Fachwerkgebäude, eine der Stationen des Kultur-Historischen Stadtrundgangs durch die Stadt Stadtoldendorf

Der Ratskeller wurde 1621 von Walter Jakob Kohler als Bürger- und Brauhaus erbaut und hat die Zerstörungen des Dreißigjährigen Krieges überdauert. 1852 wurde er durch die Stadt versteigert, gelangte später jedoch wieder in ihren Besitz. Er diente bis zur Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts als Rathaus und beherbergte zeitweise auch die Amtsstuben des Amtsgerichtes.

Neben dem Eingang erinnert eine Tafel an die Besuche des Dichters Wilhelm Raabe und im Sandsteinsockel ist noch das fast verwitterte Stadtwappen zu erkennen.
