Murder Chamber Hole Trail - Elmstein
A path that did not get its name because of a murder, but because it is the name of a parcel of land in the Elmstein district.
Mordkammerloch-Pfad - Mordkammerloch-Quelle
Anyone who thinks this is a detective story is completely wrong - this is all about a field name in the Elmstein district.
The former agricultural use of the slopes of development paths and dry stone walls. To make it easier to drive on the paths with iron-tyred wooden wheelbarrows, they were covered with sandstone slabs. The construction of >>dry stone walls<< on the slopes created terraced plots of land, some of which were flat and some slightly inclined. The walls were usually built on one side, more rarely with sandstone hewn on two or all sides.
The sandy, nutrient-poor soils mainly allowed the cultivation of potatoes (>>Grumbeere<<), rye (>>Korn<<), as well as white- and occasionally thick turnips.
Signs of the time still point to the laborious planting of the narrow Speyerbach valley. Hike along the historical paths.
The circular hiking trail 15 takes you from the cuckoo station directly to the Mordkammerloch trail.
