The site where the "Langer Stein" was erected served as a court place, which, however, is to be attributed to lower jurisdiction and whose holders in early times were the Counts of Eberstein, who had their seat at Stauf Castle. The stone is located on the old boundary between Sippersfeld and the former territory of the Rosenthal Monastery. At the center of the court place stood the "Langer Stein." It was once surrounded by smaller stones that bore a cross as a sign of law, of which only two remain today. A special feature is that it has been preserved in its original form and is well known among the population of the surrounding villages.
However, the "Langer Stein" was not only a court stone but also a boundary stone between Sippersfeld and Rosenthal. The markings on the stone are all related to its function as a boundary stone. The letters "FI" mean Forêt impérial and originate from the French period (1789-1815). Additionally, the letters "KW" can be recognized, which stand for "Königswald" and date back to the time when the Palatinate belonged to Bavaria (1816-1920). The numbers are the old boundary stone numbers.
There are two ways to reach the "Langer Stein": On one hand, from Göllheim via the Göllheimer Häuschen. About 600 meters west of the Göllheimer Häuschen, you can park at a road fork. On the other hand, you can come from Ramsen, using the same parking area. From there, you can walk the narrow access road towards Breunigweiler. After a pleasant walk of 20 to 25 minutes, you will reach the Malstein at the end of the developed path.
