Im Wald Köllergrün befindet sich an der Stätte der ehemaligen Einsiedelkapelle St. Johannes auch der legendäre Gründungsort des Klosters Waldsassen.

Archäologische Befunde belegen den Standort der im 18. Jahrhundert errichteten und 1810 abgebrochenen frühneuzeitlichen Einsiedelkapelle St. Johannes. An diesem Standort im Wald Köllergrün befindet sich auch die legendäre Gründungsstätte des Klosters Waldsassen. Der Einsiedler Gerwig soll hier das Kloster gegründet haben.
