The core of the castle goes back to a medieval defence tower and was expanded into a manor house in the 16th century under the barons of Königsberg. It was first mentioned in writing in 1591 under the name Künigsperghausen. A coat of arms stone of the Königsberg family bears the date 1626.
The east wing with its arcades and portico was added in the 18th century under the Batthyány counts, who owned the castle from 1644 to 1956. After that, the castle housed a peasant school and a hotel. After extensive renovation work, a health academy was housed here in 2003. The castle used to have an extensive park with a pond and an adjoining nursery.
