Nicht auf dem Interregio Wanderweg, aber eine mögliche Etappe. Den I.W. beim o.g. Hügelgrab verlassen, und den mit dem roten Ring bezeichneten Wanderweg folgen (”René Thomann Weg”). Dieser Weg führt zum zoologischen Garten. Um Mulhouse zu verlassen, den Weg mit dem gelben Rechteck folgen (zwischen Zoologischem Garten und Bahnstation den Bus nehmen). Das historische Zentrum besichtigen, insb. das Renaissance Rathaus (16. Jahrhundert) mit seinen im Oberrhein-Stil gemalten Fassaden, sowie die bemerkenswerten Kirchenfenster (14. Jahrhundert) der neogotischen, evangelischen Stephanskirche. Man kann auch die Häuser der Textilhersteller (sog. ”Indiennes-Stoffe” wurden ab 1746 in Mulhouse produziert) sehen, z.B. in der Franziskaner-Strasse (rue des Franciscains).Museen: historisches Museum, Kunstmuseum, Nationalmuseum Cité de l’Automobile („Stadt des Automobils“), Eisenbahn Museum, Stoffdruckmuseum.
