Freimersheim was first mentioned in documents in 771 AD. Following the Congress of Vienna (1815), Freimersheim joined the Kingdom of Bavaria, where it remained until 1945. Today, the idyllic place is connected to the regional bike paths. Neustadt and & Speyer can be reached in a short time.
Freimersheim has a long history. The place was first mentioned in a document in 771 AD.
However, archaeological finds from various epochs provide evidence that Freimersheim, with its good location and fertile soils, has been consistently inhabited. The discovery of a Neolithic longhouse was made in the early 2000s, confirming that people lived here around 7,000 years ago. It was also inhabited during the Bronze Age and the Roman period. A larger settlement existed during the time of the Merovingians. This period also includes the first documented mention No. 2165 in the Codex Laureshamensis of the Abbey of Lorsch in the year 771.
