Where once electoral history was written, a gate to the past opens again today - bringing the hunting lodge Friedrichsbühl in the Bellheimer Forest back to life.
Experience history, discover nature, and try out digital technology – at the Friedrichsbühl experience station, the past and present merge in a unique way.
At the historic site of the former hunting lodge Friedrichsbühl, the former castle gate has been meticulously reconstructed from wood. It serves as a reminder of the hunting lodge built in the 16th century under Electoral Prince Friedrich II and makes its history visible once again. The original gate is now located in the Historical Museum of the Palatinate in Speyer.
A special highlight is the virtual reconstruction of the castle: Using a QR code, the former representative building can be discovered in its original form directly on the smartphone with the help of augmented reality. An information panel and an additional QR code also provide exciting insights into the turbulent history of the castle and its gate.
The experience station is also an attractive photo point that invites visitors to experience history, nature, and modern technology in a new way.

Tip:
From the viewpoint at the experience station, not only is there a worthwhile view of the Bellheimer Forest or the portal – with a bit of imagination, one might even discover the famous Palatinate legendary creature, the Elwetritsche.
