Der canyonartige, durch Erosion entstandene Taleinschnitt von einigen Kilometern Länge bildet die sogenannte Strubklamm. Entlang dem nördlichen Absatz dieser bizarren Talschlucht aus Dolomitengestein führt die Fahrstraße. Auf der Südseite, wo sich die Landschaftsbildung etwas sanfter entfaltet hat, verläuft der seit unvordenklichen Zeiten benutzte Metzgersteig. Dieser ist ein wichtiges Teilstück der Verbindung zwischen Adnet und Faistenau. Am Beginn des Wanderweges - Strubklammsee - wird auf einer Tafel die Sage vom "Mord vom Metzgersteig" beschrieben.

Durch die Klamm führt jedoch kein Wanderweg!
