Es handelt sich um eine sogenannte "unechte Lavabombe" weil diese, mit ihren 120 Tonnen Gewicht nicht durch die Luft geflogen ist, sondern löste sie sich, bei einer Sprengung im Steinbruch am Wartgesberg aus der Steinbruchwand. Strohner Bürger zogen sie im Winter 1980/81 an den heutigen Standort.
