Im Tal der Murg

Um 1700 erstellte die Dorfgemeinschaft für den Vieh- und Schweinehirten das sogenannte Hirtenhaus. Mehr als 200 Jahre lang war das Wohnrecht im Hirtenhaus Teil der kärglichen Entlohnung des Dorfhirten.
Später brachte die Gemeinde im Hirtenhaus arme und bedürftige Bürger unter und kam so ihrer Fürsorgepflicht nach. Bis 1995 wurde das Haus in diesem Sinne genutzt. Durch die Großzügigkeit eines Gönners kam das Hirtenhaus in den Besitz des „ Fördervereins Michelbacher Hirtenhaus“. Das mittlerweile renovierte Hirtenhaus wird dem Dorf zukünftig als „Stätte der Begegnung“ dienen.
