The Castle Tabor is located in the midst of the gentle hills of the trilateral Nature Park Raab-Örség-Goricko, at the tri-border area of Austria-Hungary-Slovenia, and is one of the oldest buildings in the district of Jennersdorf. The type of construction is based on Hussite fortifications in the Czech town of Tábor.
The later Castle Tabor is first mentioned in 1469. As part of his feud against Emperor Frederick III, the noble mercenary leader Ulrich Pesnitzer had a temporary defensive structure built, which, however, did not last long.
After being taken over by the Nature Park Raab, the castle was transformed into an opera venue under the management of jOPERA Jennersdorf and is now used for cultural events.
The castle café is open during the exhibition on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
Visit the castle during the opening hours of events/exhibitions. Otherwise, access is only allowed to the courtyard during the opening hours of the exhibition office or upon request.
