Ruine Rosenburg

Written records are missing on the origin of the "Rosenburg", popularly called. The castle was first mentioned in 1332 when the village of Arinswancke was pledged from a branch line Sponheim-Koppenstein for 2,000 pounds Heller to the ministerial of the same name, a knight Simon von Arinswancke. The castle was probably built in the 13th century when the Sponheim counts sought to round off and secure their property. In 1786 the castle was described in a contemporary description as "very handsome and permanent". It was destroyed in 1793.
